At the start of the 20th century the newly discovered element radium was used in everything from body lotion to tonic water. You could even find it in mobile X-ray vans during World War I. But at what cost to health?

Join us for a virtual meeting of the Science History Institute Book Club. We’ll be discussing Kate Moore’s The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America’s Shining Women and exploring both the life-ending side effects of the Curies’ greatest discovery and the fight for workers’ rights.

Advance registration is required. Spots are limited. After registering you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
