Abstract: This talk will explore the 200-year history of our understanding of type-2 allergic immune responses, from the first clinical description in 1819 to the discovery of IgE in the 1970s to recent research on the interactions between immune cells and our microbiomes. The early discovery of allergies changed not only our understanding of immune function, but also shed light on the complicated interactions between our own cells and our day-to-day environments.
