Dr. Allan Schwartz explores the hidden effects of FDR’s chronic health problems on his interactions with world leaders at a crucial time in world history: the end of World War II and the earliest days of the Cold War. By examining FDR’s medical conditions, the role of his doctors and medications, and how these personal health issues affected negotiations with Churchill and Stalin at the Yalta Conference, we gain a deeper understanding of the personal and the political at the intersection of history and medicine.
