Philadelphia Lantern Slide Salon

Celebrate Archives Month Philly at the Wagner Free Institute of Science as we showcase glass lantern slides from the special collections of several Philadelphia institutions. Predating the motion picture, lantern slides were used for entertainment, to document, and to illustrate educational programs and courses. At this salon, held yearly in the Wagner's Victorian-era lecture hall, archivists will share slide collections using an original 1914 lantern slide projector and tell the stories behind the slides.
