Dr. Joanna Chikwe is an internationally recognized leader in cardiothoracic surgery and founding Chair of the Department of Cardiac Surgery at Cedars-Sinai. Among her many distinctions, she is the author of landmark articles in JAMA and Journal of the American College of Cardiology as well as the editor and author of several clinical handbooks, including Cardiothoracic Surgery, published by Oxford University Press. Additionally, Dr. Chikwe now serves as Editor-in-Chief of The Annals of Thoracic Surgery and its open-access journal Annals Short Reports. A leader in the fields of robotic mitral valve repair and coronary revascularization, Dr. Chikwe will be speaking about the history of xenotransplantation and its possible future.
