In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Barbara Bates Center for the Study of the History of Nursing at Penn, panelists will reflect on the study, influences and practice of nursing throughout American history and discuss the future of the nursing profession and its implications for American healthcare.

Dr. Barbara Mann Wall, associate professor of nursing in the School of Nursing and associate director at the Barbara Bates Center for the Study of the History of Nursing at Penn. Mann Wall is author of the recently published “American Catholic Hospitals: A Century of Changing Markets and Missions.”
Dr. Cynthia Connolly, associate professor of nursing in the School of Nursing. Connolly is currently leading a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation project based on her book, “A Prescription for Healthy Childhood: A History of Children in Pharmaceuticals in the United States.”
Dr. Patricia D’Antonio, associate professor of nursing in the School of Nursing, chair of the Department of Family and Community Health and a participating faculty member of the Women’s Studies Program at Penn. D’Antonio has published several books, including the most recent “American Nursing: A History of Knowledge, Authority and the Meaning of Work.”
