Time: Reception at 5:00pm, Lecture at 6:00pm
Location: Chemical Heritage Foundation
Spend an evening with Sir John Meurig Thomas and hear his thoughts on Michael Faraday, the English chemist and physicist known for contributions to the study of electrochemistry and electromagnetism.
Albert Einstein believed that Faraday was responsible for the greatest change in the intellectual structure of physics since Isaac Newton. Faraday bequeathed to modern researchers a greater corpus of useful knowledge than perhaps any other physical scientist.
How did it come about that Faraday, a deeply religious man who never attended high school or university and knew no mathematics, could reach such scientific pinnacles?
