LECTURE\Yellow fever is a mysterious disease responsible for the death of almost 10 percent of Philadelphia’s population between 1793-1797. With officials desperate for a cure, two competing medical camps presented their observations and conclusions: The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, led by Benjamin Rush, and the Academy of Medicine, led by Philip Syng Physick. In this lecture, held at the Physick House, Dr. Robert Hicks examines their competing theories of Yellow Fever and its treatment. Cosponsored by Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks. Free for HSP and Landmarks Members, $15 for nonmembers.
