My research examines the consequences of industrial corporations’ late nineteenth- and twentieth-century rise to dominance over entire areas of scientific and technological knowledge production and dissemination from a global perspective. More specifically, by investigating the internationalization of research and development (R&D) activities in the photographic industry, and the impact of photographic corporations on the general development and use of photographic knowledge and technology, my project aims to both supplement and challenge earlier historical research on industrial R&D, the internationalization of science, and photographic science and technology. Several collections at the APS and the Hagley would help me accomplish this goal.
