The Joint Atlantic Seminar in the History of Biology will hold its 49th meeting on April 4-5, 2014, at the Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood campus in Baltimore, Maryland.
Founded in 1965, the Joint Atlantic Seminar provides a welcoming forum for new scholars to present original scholarly research to their peers and faculty. We particularly encourage submissions from graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and recent Ph.D.s. Themes may include any topics in the fields of history of biology and biomedicine of any period. Sponsors are the Departments of History of Medicine and History of Science and Technology at Johns Hopkins.
Deadline for proposals for a 20-minute presentation:
Friday, February 7, 2014.
We expect to inform people of acceptance by February 21.
Please send a title, paper description (300 words) and contact information to all three organizers:
- Nathaniel Comfort nccomfort@gmail.com
- Sharon Kingsland sharon@jhu.edu
- Daniel Todes dtodes@jhmi.edu
The meeting’s format will follow custom, with a welcoming reception in the early evening on Friday, April 4th, and talks on Saturday, April 5th, followed by a banquet. Every effort will be made to find no-cost housing for students presenting papers or attending the meeting.
